Self-warming cat beds are the latest social media hype, especially on TikTok; but the product is also available on Amazon, where we purchased ours.

Whereas TikTok companies are from China, Furhaven is a US-based company, founded in 2004 and originally headquartered in Bellingham, Washington.

The product comes in three sizes, but we ordered the one measuring 36″L x 24″W x 0.25″Th. Cost was $21.99.

Self-warming beds work using heat-reflective materials—embedded within the cushion to reflect a cat’s own body heat back to them. Furhaven states, “These non-electric beds trap and radiate warmth, maintaining the cat’s natural body temperature (approx.) without the safety risks of cords.”

We were delighted with the product, and so were our three Maine Coons–so much so, that they wait to take turns.

King Thor, just one year old and 18+ pounds, was the first to claim the blanket.

He’s still very much a kitten and so stayed there for a few hours. You can see why we chose the extra large version, which is barely large enough for his lanky body.

Siggy was next with Freya patiently waiting her turn.

Then Freya had her turn with Thor waiting for his turn.

The waiting game ended when Siggy decided that she wasn’t sharing anymore.

We probably will be purchasing a few smaller blankets for Freya and Siggy, both about 10 pounds.
