We are exited to introduce kitten Thor to his soon-to-be sisters, Freya and Siggy, both four years old. We are especially thankful for breeder Susan Evans of Jinxy’s Den Maine Coon Cattery in Des Moines, Iowa.

Thor’s room is in our basement where it is quiet. The door to that room will be closed, of course. It has these essentials:

  • Cat bed
  • Toys
  • Food dish
  • Water fountain
  • Feliway diffuser
  • Maine Coon tree
  • Scratch pad
  • Litter box
  • Full size bed for Thor’s person (me).

Our introduction plan includes the following:

First Week

I will play with Thor in his room and sleep with him until about 8 p.m. Before exiting, I will leave my sweatshirt near his bed so that Thor has my scent.

I will return to the main floor of my house then. Freya and Siggy will smell Thor’s scent.

Second Week

I will put Thor in a crate and allow Freya and Siggy in the room so that they can see and smell Thor.

Third Week

I will slowly introduce Freya and Siggy into Thor’s room without using the crate but be on hand to stop any fighting. I will also do the same for Thor on the other floors of our house.
