Here are my “Sink Surfers,” Freya and Siggy, in their nightly ritual of turning on faucet and drinking and splashing.

Maine Coons have semi water-resistant fur that protects them from snow in Northern climes. That coat allows them to indulge themselves with water.

While no cat is fully water-proof, Maine Coons come close. They will follow you to the bathtub and splash you or even join you in the shower.

The sink is particularly attractive, especially if they know how to turn it on. They enjoy a drink of flowing water. (Freya and Siggy have their own cat water fountain.)

If you allow your cat to go outdoors, which we do not recommend because of the dangers–from predators to cars–your Maine Coon might return wet, muddy and soiled. But that’s okay because now you must give them a bath.
