Tree stands can frighten kittens, especially if they are unstable. Many owners put their babies on the top level and see if they like it or can climb down.
That’s no way to introduce a tree stand to a kitten.
Imagine yourself for the first time at the top spring board at the community pool. You don’t want your kitten to feel that fear.
Instead, wait until the kitten is about three months and try using a bird wand so that your pet associates the stand with play time, gaining confidence.
Gradually entice your kitten to go to the first level and slowly raise the wand to the second. If your cat is reluctant to go higher, don’t push it. Work on it every day.
Freya reached the top after a few days of practice. Now she loves her stand and often sleeps now on the top rung.
